An envelope with an unfamiliar return address and hand-writing appeared in by mail box a few months ago.
Inside was a letter from a vegan woman and in her early twenties who bought a zine from me a few weeks before. She wrote to me about her life, her experiences as a vegan, and what it is like living in her city.
I wrote back, then eagerly checked my mailbox for the next few weeks until another letter came.
I came to know things about her and consider her a friend of sorts, although I have only seen photos of her on Etsy and Twitter and never spoken to her.
She sent me a beautiful cowl to help me through the cold Winnipeg weather and a CD of music she likes in her last letter.
In this modern world, getting a hand written letter from someone is so rare and special. It's so personal, and due to the amount of effort it takes to hand write a letter long enough to be worthy of a stamp.
Having a pen pal is a ton of fun. Whether it is an old friend you have not heard from in a while or someone interesting you met and want to get to know better, I highly recommend you sit down and write a good old fashion letter to someone.
